Jessie van Aelst
Founder & Creative Director
How it Started: Jessie started Cosmic Cloud Studios to meet the increasing art demand of her clients and to create job opportunities for the game art community during a time of mass layoffs.
Experience: Jessie has over 15 years of experience creating thoughtful game art. She studied Game Graphics Production at the award-winning Digital Arts & Entertainment program and has contributed to acclaimed titles like Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, Monument Valley, and Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Jessie also founded The Game Collective, a global community where developers connect, learn, and grow.
Vision: Jessie believes hand crafted & thoughtful game art can heavily impact player experience and keeps them coming back for more.
Favorite Games: include Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X, Journey, Prince of Persia 2008, Dark Chronicles & Tales of Series.
Tom Nicholas
Chief Executive Officer
How it Started: Tom joined Jessie at Cosmic Cloud Studios shortly after she founded it. First as Operations Manager and later transitioninto CEO so Jessie could focus on Creative Direction
Experience: With over 15 years in the games industry and a BAFTA member, Tom has led cross-functional efforts across QA, localisation, art, and co-development on award-winning titles including The Quarry, Little Nightmares, The Witcher and LEGO Star Wars series. He brings deep operational insight to project delivery and partner collaboration. Supporting studios through growth, live operations, and multi-platform releases. Making him CEO was a no-brainer.
Vision: Whether scaling teams or refining pipelines, Tom’s focus is on creating smart, sustainable systems that empower creative teams and deliver standout player experiences.
